On Wearing Clothes

One week the STYLE supplement in the Sunday Times newspaper interviewed Christian Louboutin. For those who don't know, he is a shoe designer (those with the red sole) and I have wanted a pair of these since I was twelve. I am not an avid shoe buyer, nor do I often wear heels but there was something about Louboutins, that they could be sexy or sophisticated and just make me infinitely glamorous that caused me to fall in love with them. So, you could imagine my delight when my favourite magazine interviewed him. In his interview he mentioned something about people not wearing clothes because they looked better without them and at the time I took little heed of it. But, for some reason, three years later it is something I often think about.

Three years on, I have come to agree with Christian Louboutin. I understand that clothes can transform you into a magical human being, a party animal, Beyoncé or business woman extraordinaire but bloody hell it's a lot of effort. And honestly, no one looks like this on a day to day basis. Bodies were simply not meant to be clinched ad stretched into body con dresses on skin tight jeans, the human body is beautiful yet we insist that actually, it only looks beautiful when we hide it away under pieces of fabric. I understand that we can't go around town in the nude, showing our gorgeous bodies off to the world, but I just wish that people, before putting any clothes on would think "hot damn" and realise that actually, their body is actually magnificent without having to squeeze it into anything to please well, anybody that is not themselves.

I do have days like this, and I'm trying to make them happen more often. If I can't appreciate myself then it's not fair on me to think that somebody, anybody else, should.
Just something to think about.

I realise this is not normally how I write my blogs, focussing on one topic and not just talking generally about my life. I just feel that my life really isn't that interesting and I now feel the need to share my views on certain topics. Obviously you may feel that these views are completely wrong and I am talking utter bullshit but quite honestly, talking bullshit is my fucking specialty. I am the greatest bullshit talker of all time, the absolute drivvel that I can come out with is really rather incredible.
For those who will miss me chatting about people you do not know and about my going-ons, I do apologise but really, giving my views on anything and everything will be such fun!

A Cheeky New Year Post

So it's a whole new year; New hopes, dreams and expectations are fogging up the air we breathe. I can feel them. They're all around us. Excited teenagers hoping that this year they will meet their prince, adults praying that the new year will bring them a pay rise, a child, an end to grief in their lives. The gyms are packed, fruit, veg and diet books are out of stock and I, I am blogging for the first time since August.

2013 was fucking MENTAL for me.
At the beginning of it I genuinely thought it was going to be the worst year I had ever experienced, but it had picked up by the middle.
I have university offers, love in my life, support from my family and friends on whom I can rely on.
Some things I learnt in 2013:
•If they drain you of your energy then they no longer belong in your life. There's no point dreading everyday just because of the people you see when you can simply smile at them and think "you are an arse and I am fabulous and that is that."
•You should attend atleast one festival in your lifetime. They are epic. Just, epic.
•Love can be found in unlikely places. It helps if you wipe the black marker of 'desperate' off your forehead. No one likes a desperate person.
•Do what makes you happy. It's clichĂ© I know but I realised that while everyone parties their lives away all I really want to do is read a good book. There are so many good books out there and I have deteriorating time to read them in. Reading makes me happy and so that is what I shall do.

2014 is not your year, neither was 2013 and nor will 2015 be. Every single year is your year because it is YOUR life. Don't sit back and think that 'fate' has already pre-determined what you will or won't do and that 'fate' will get you to university or ship you to Africa to help those who need it. That is for you to do.
Now. Stop reading this post and go out there and make 2014 worthwhile, make it sensational and most of all, make it memorable; for all the right reasons.

Happy New Year
